Curiosity is the desire for knowledge that motivates individuals to learn new ideas, eliminate information-gaps, and solve intellectual problems (Berlyne, 1954; Loewenstein,1994). Berlyne described curiosity as a uniquely human ‘drive to knowthat motivates inquisitiveness and experimentation, and that underlies intellectual development achievement (Berlyne, 1966, 1971). They suggest that these tendencies are a trait associated with positive emotional-motivational states of interest and the intrinsic pleasure of learning.

Curiosity; the desire to know more is a basic human trait. We strive to acquire more information about our surroundings, our interests, the way things work, the people in our lives, and even ourselves.

At the heart of it, curiosity drives self-improvement, the pursuit of knowing ourselves, and educating our consciousness about what makes us tick and keeps us going. Neuro-linguistic programming engages this instinctive hunger for education by raising fascinating questions about how we operate in the world, how our brains work, and how our inner substance (desires, beliefs, knowledge and motivations) affects our perceptions of the world and the people we interact with. NLP encourages exploration and helps you find answers to the questions you didn’t know you were supposed to ask. With these techniques, you’ll be able to understand how your visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic senses impact the way you learn. Once you develop an understanding of the unique learning methods that are most effective for you, you can apply those methods to your life—resulting in faster learning, a more thorough understanding, and better retention.

Parents can also use NLP techniques to help their children improve academic performance by allowing them to learn easier, and achieve more. Whether you’re taking courses yourself or have children in school, NLP can help you and your family become lifelong learners, developing a deep and rich knowledge of your true interests and plotting courses of action that will bring you to those interests. NLP is also the best tool you can have while you’re pursuing higher education, whether you’re taking extra classes to improve your work skills or working towards a degree or higher qualification. With improved learning skills, you can decrease your study time and enjoy more of your life. You’ll also be able to combat exam nerves and pass tests with flying colours.
