You may have clients who are so focused on daily tasks that they’ve completely lost the joy in life.

One way to help them get grounded again in a positive, productive place is to help them unlock their desire to play.

That’s right: play isn’t just for children. It’s a way of being that successful adults can also embrace on their way to a higher quality of life. It’s a light-heartedness, a belief that positive outcomes are possible and expected, a sense of humor, a sense of fun.

Here are some facts that you can use to help your clients understand the importance of play.

  1. Play is a connector. Sharing a playful and fun moment with someone else promotes a great bond with that person. This can be especially effective for teams that are under high stress.
  2. Play fosters learning. Because playing stimulates imagination, we are more able to uncover innovative solutions to problems that arise.
  3. Play helps boost morale. Endorphins are released when we play. Endorphins make us less fearful, anxious, and discouraged.
  4. Play simply makes people happier. Play is a happy state of being that adults should welcome with open arms! Your clients will be glad they did.

As you engage your clients’ desire to play, they’ll experience less stress and better outcomes in all the areas for which you’re coaching them.

How do you unlock a desire to play in yourself or your clients?
